Stage 01  /  Import

A viewport screenshot is not a product photo.

Buyers scrolling a model listing are looking for a thing that exists. Grey shaded geometry on a grey background reads as a file. Drop that same file into RenderPlate and it comes back as an object sitting on a desk.

Set the shot before you spend the render.

Import opens a fast geometry proxy, not a render. Orbit it, set elevation and distance, nudge the target off centre, and pick the filament colour for each slot. The camera you leave it on becomes the hero frame; the gallery angles keep their own composition around it.

STL and OBJ carry no reliable unit or up-axis, so RenderPlate asks you rather than guessing and silently printing a 6 cm boat at 6 mm.

Stage 02  /  Slice

It runs your slicer. It does not imitate one.

The layer lines in these images are not a tiling texture wrapped around a mesh. RenderPlate hands the model to Bambu Studio, slices it against a pinned profile, and reads the real toolpath back — every perimeter loop, every travel move, every seam the slicer chose. Geometry follows the path.

Profiles that exist on real machines.

RenderPlate ships pinned Bambu Lab profiles rather than an abstract “quality” slider, because layer height is the single parameter that decides what a surface looks like. Pick the one you actually print with.

Stage 03  /  Deposit

Prints have tells. You choose how many.

A print that looks flawless looks fake. RenderPlate lays plastic along the toolpath and gives you the character controls a real machine would have written into the surface anyway — all on one scale, where 0 is off, 50 is the curated natural baseline, and 100 is roughly twice that.

A seam is systematic, not random: its frequency tops out at one start-stop ridge per closed wall loop, so turning it up makes the ridge you would really get more visible instead of inventing extra ones.

Stage 04  /  Render

One run fills a whole listing.

A run does not return one picture. It returns the set a marketplace listing wants: a hero, the angles around it, and a macro close enough to argue about. Below is one real run, unretouched.

Preview cheap, render once.

Quick preview is for framing. It comes back fast and deliberately suppresses deposition detail, so you are not paying render time to find out the camera is wrong.

Final is the real thing, and it is honest work for a CPU — expect several minutes per set. RenderPlate keeps every finished run in local history, so you can reopen a set weeks later, or download it again as a ZIP without re-rendering.

Quick previews never count. They stay unlimited, before and after the trial runs out, because framing a shot should not cost you one of three.

The trial does not phone home. The count lives on your machine, like the rest of the app. Nothing is uploaded when you use it and nothing is uploaded when it runs out.

Say what these images are.

Every image RenderPlate produces is an illustrative visual simulation. It is not a prediction of how your printer will behave, how your filament will flow, or which defects a given print will actually have.

It is a very good picture of what your model would look like printed. It is not a test print, and no honest listing should imply that it is. RenderPlate keeps that disclosure attached to the output rather than burying it here.

You also need the rights to whatever you feed it — the model, the logos, the textures. The licence covers the software and the images it renders for you, not somebody else’s geometry.

Three renders is enough to know.
